“Lovers and Lunches!” ( A New Year’s Eve poem) by Amalia E. (Amy) Zents

“Lovers and Lunches!”
( A New Year’s Eve poem)
by Amalia E. (Amy) Zents

Let us count our blessings instead of our years!
For today’s like any other, full of laughter, full of tears.
Unlike dogs, we humans, think it’s special and rare:
Why must we mark our calenders, with something not there?
Any day that marks the end of another doesn’t matter.
So it may be New Year's Eve, does it add to our platter?
The days, weeks, and months and years will surely pass.
And one day we shall all find ourselves beneath the grass.
So let us bind our memories up in bundles and bunches
With fond remembrances of all our lovers, and lunches.
Will life be measured sweetly, or by clocks filled with hate?
For day, month and years will never stop or wait.
They just keep rolling on, passing year after year,
Never caring, never wondering, whether we will still be here!

"The path of the Merry" by Amalia E.(Amy) Zents 12/31/12

"The path of the Merry"
A poem in the Style of Shakespeare by Amalia E. (Amy) Zents

To mind the future is to court discontent,
So we must deign to make the present pleasant,
Procrastination is loss for the lazy dreamer,
For life does not ask for a villainous schemer.
Everywhere there is work, but hardly those who will go,
Desire without effort is keen, but always answers no!
So to attend to what is our necessity,  it is vital we be free;
Unencumbered, unburdened, and simplified like the sea.
Not held back by useless trappings,
Nor in fear of cruel strappings,
Not in worries weighted down,
Nor concerned by someone's frown.
Not bogged down or cloaked in fear,
But gathering round those to us dear.
So, let us be good and worthy of each day,
For the  path of the merry is the only way!

"Christmas Eve Greetings," by Amy Zents

"Hope you're safe and warm, and comfy tonight,
Hope you're feeling full, and your spirit is bright.
Hope you're feeling loved, and have joy and peace galore,
Hope you'll soon be getting all the things you're wishing for!"

"Journaling" by Amalia (Amy) E. Zents 12/24/2012

                                                               "Journaling"
by Amalia (Amy) E. Zents 12/24/2012

Giving thanks in kind reflection,
Dreaming of a new direction,
I am home with you dear friend,
Tho' I'm oft undisciplin'd.
I waste my hours idly scheming,
Jotting plans of perfect cleaning,
Thoughts of better living wages,
Fill up lots of journal pages.
Wanting more than current glory,
Searching for a better story,
Crowded pages are revealing,
Every thought and ache I'm feeling.

"Where Does my Poetry Come From?" by Amalia (Amy) E. Zents

"Where Does my Poetry Come From?"
 by Amalia (Amy) E. Zents

"Where does my poetry come from?
It's found here at home,
In the warp and weft of life,
In the fabric of each bone,
In the heart of each moment
In the daily ebb and flow,
In the passage of time,
It's made to blossom and grow.
When inspiration processed
Sounds its bell clear and steady,
And tells me,
"Ta Da! Your poem is ready!"

"Servant Joy," by Amalia E. Zents copyright 12/2012

"Servant Joy," by Amalia E. Zents
(Dedicated to the victims of the Newtown, Connecticut elementary school shooting )

"A world of beauty lies within us.
What our minds believe our hearts will also embrace.
Never forget to remember thy place.
In the home you are the servant of your family.
In the workplace you're the servant of your customer.
It is beautiful to be a giver.
It is right to share your light.
Truth comes from the generous soul.
It makes us feel safe and helps us be whole."

Love, peace, beauty and joy!

My 5th Wedding Anniversary Poem for my Husband James

“5th Wedding Anniversary Poem”
by Amy Zents for James Zents

I’d like to tell you a little story
It’s about a man that I love
He’s got a broad smile
And fancy brown eyes
With lashes that wave at me
whenever he blinks

I’d like to brag about my lover
I’m glad that we’re together
He’s with me every day
And eats with me in bed
And helps me keep our two dogs
off our tray.

Love is more than an amusement
It’s a commitment to each other
A promise of a happy destination
That is found in the journey.
On our 5th wedding anniversary
Where the gift is wood
May our love grow like the mighty oak tree
As our powerful love behaves like the
tiny acorn who continues to grow as it stands its ground.

"Somebody taught my two adopted dogs to wait in line," a poem by Amalia E. Zents

"Somebody taught my two adopted dogs to wait in line"
A poem by Amalia E. Zents

"Somebody taught my two adopted dogs to wait in line.
Each stands behind the other when it's time to eat or drink,
Two polite dogs, I daresay, and neither do I hear either of them whine;
They know if they will but patiently wait, they'll both be in the pink!"

"The Heart Remembers," by Amalia E. Zents

The heart remembers
His soft dark coat
The way his whiskers
Felt against my cheek;

The heart remembers
The strength of his purr
As he climbed on me
While I tried to sleep.

The heart remembers
The good sport he was
When I dressed him up
Like a fairy queen;

The heart remembers
A cat named Rascal
Sure-footed, daring,
Wise and serene.

"Better Souls," by Amalia E. Zents

"Better Souls"

by Amalia E. Zents (Molly of "Molly and Sonny Boy")

"We can all make the world a better place,

It's not that hard to put a smile on someone's face

You can always lend a child a helping hand

You can always do your part to care for this land.

On our planet there's bloodshed, hatred and death.

How can we really draw a satisfying breath?

The media is partly to blame, no surprise;

They pretend to love beauty. It's all a disguise.

Can we toss out the greed from our savage hearts?

Becoming a good soul happens in fits and starts.

My friend, while bad folks may never drop their sword

Let's remember our earth was made a place for friends,

And not a place for war!"

"I am a victim of my generation," by Amalia E. Zents (April 6, 2011)

i want it all
i want it all
great expectations
i am a victim of my generation
hard driving
hard working
single minded
dreamer
lies were told to me
making me think
i could have everything
i wanted
there is a price to pay
they don’t tell you
how’re you gonna get through now that you're
through school?
every silver lining tests
the clouds you’re into.
a victim of the inside track
taking charge of bouncing back
there’s a diamond stuck somewhere in the muck
of all you have to dig through
they told you you could have it all
everything should be so easy
they told you it would be a ball
but you can’t help acting sleazy
from a dream to reality can be rough
it’s time to wake up
time to be tough
girls the more things change
the more they remain the same
don’t doubt it
a victim of my generation’s gonna get by
gotta get by
bye bye

"Stretchmarks of Life," by Amalia E. Zents, March 7, 2012

Stretchmarks of life, By Amalia (Amy) Zents

love and pain
stretchmarks
happiness and sorrow
stretchmarks
Stains and tears
Songs and drinks
nights of love
and days of hate
forgetting to forgive
arriving late
the stretchmarks
are there
stretchmarks left by men
stretchmarks left by party ‘n
Wish I could be young again
the stretchmarks
and the time
these are things left behind
the stretchmarks of life.

“Do you ever wake up feeling poor?” a song created and sung by Amalia (Amy) E. Zents "Do you ever wake up feeling poor?" a song created and sung by the Author Amy Zents

Do you ever wake up feeling poor?” a song created and sung by Amy Zents

Do you ever wake up feeling poor?
when u really have a lot to be thankful for
a body that's well
friends who are swell?
a roof and a home to come home to?
Do you ever recall you were thankful at all
for the many things you have today?
Tho' it may not be funny
there's riches more than money
they're found in your skills and your mind
You will always find love if you serve
those you can
be it family or public or nature
You'll find a fan,
for there is so much need
and you can plant the seed,
to some day yield more riches than ur
heart can hold
So be kind, don't be lost to the truth of all you've
got
if you're truly grateful you've got a lot
So switch off the world that keeps clamoring for you to
cry cuz you arn't a Kardashion
no reason
to reply
So have a great life, then you'll have even more
You'll have friends all around and the finest riches you could ever wish for!
